Papermache Boat

WALT: Make a waka out of papermache.

Our first step to making a waka out of papermache.
I have not finished yet but this is just a the steps to making the papermache paper.

1. cut it out on the dotted line – the solid lines are for scoring -  there are little triangles on one end  – you can fold those back to trace the line onto your cardboard and poke your pencil through the tip of the V on the pattern to mark your cardboard.

2. Use a ruler to draw the lines as shown on the pattern. I’ve highlighted the lines to score in red. Use the BACK of your exact knife to score the lines in red and then gently bend the boat into shape.

3. Bring the edges together and secure with lots of scotch tape – they shouldn’t overlap but just meet and last tape the front tips together.

4. Trim any  excess  so the back edge is smooth and now you should have a little boat shape. Cut a strip of cardboard that’s about 1 ” by 3″.

5. Bend that strip into a little triangle shape that fits inside your boat and tape it in , just a little closer to the front (bow ) than the back (stern), this will hold your mast. You’re ready to paper mache – I recommend 2 layers using different papers – so you can see when a layer is complete. You don’t have to let the boat dry between layers but I like to. I start with the inside of the boat closing up the little triangle space – you don’t have to fill it – just close it up.

6. Notes on paper mache – I find it easiest to do the edges first and  the smaller the pieces of paper the smoother and stronger the finished result.   I use golden harvest wheat paste. Add your second layer of paper, let it dry completely then paint it. I used a mixture of latex and water colour.

Here is my waka I made. FROM DIFFERENT ANGLES.

Revolution Tour

Revolution Tour was the supreme amusing group I've constantly seen in this year, but there is one man who was the MAN his name is Reggie. There's 2 things I can tell you, he loves music and loves play the tuba. Reggie told us a really sad story about his younger years, it was really sad. Reggie told us one chant and it was so catchy " I Can, You Can, We Can, I GOT YOUR BACK! There were 2 beautiful twins and they sang one call away and other songs too I just don't remember them.

My amazing weekend

This week we've been having a lot of fun and having awesome visitors at our school. We've had Nate coming to our school and he was talking to us about what we can be when we grow up and what our attitude is. We also had Illuminate come to our school on Wednesday and performed just for us, they were awesome there were people  cheering and yelling "WOOOHOO". Then on Thursday we had a amazing surprise from Revaluation tour come to hall and talk to us about who we can be and that if someone doesn't love you, you are still not alone. Through out this hole week I learned that "Don't let anyone tell you who your mean't to be.

Immersion Assembly

WALT: Unpack/ brainstorm key features and points of a performance or assembly presentation:

 Immersion Assembly

P1. It was another pleasing term at Pt England school, all the hard working students came back to school with a dilatory and boisterous act, but they got the hang of it. At 9.00 Pt England school had a immersion assembly. A immersion assembly is about coming together at the beginning of the  term and letting the teachers display their part of what they will be learning this whole term. Team 1’s theme was: their favourites, team 2 was: season and team 3 was art tection, team 4 was: superhero comics and team 5 was: best waka.

P2. My cherished team was team 4 because, they made a movie of themselves being superhero's but instead of superhero's they thought to go with supervengers because they ain't really superhero's their like super teachers. The team 4 teachers were Miss Lavakula, Mr Somerville, Miss west including Miss Moala, Mr Bax and Mr Goodwin.

P3. Team 1’s theme was about what their favourite things.
Team 2’s theme was what season they want to have as a living habit and what season makes them jubilant and memorable. Team 3’s theme was art tection, they wanted to know what they could get out of making art. Team 4’s theme was superhero comics. Team 4 wanted to read all about superhero comics and to learn about comics. Team 5’s theme was about the best waka. Team 5 wanted to learn about what the 4 waka’s meant. WAKA’S: Hikianalia, Te Aurere, Hokulea, Hinemoana.

P4. After immersion assembly all the classes went back to their rooms and did a writing recount about what they thought about the immersion assembly, and also what they think they learned from the assembly and what the topic it is and what it meant to them.

Memory Brainstorm

WALT: Recount a positive  memory or experience using descriptive language features: Adjectives, synonyms and similes.

I learned that on Easter Jesus sacrificed for our sins. Easter is important to me because, It is the most important festival, and the one celebrated with the greatest joy. The date of Easter changes each year, and many other festivals fix their dates by reference to Easter. (July 5, 2011.) Easter this year lands on March 27, a relatively early date but perfect timing for anyone who needs a sugar fix since crashing shortly after Valentine’s Day. Next year, April 16 marks the holiday.Easter moves around year-to-year and can hit anywhere between March 22 and April 25.Easter Monday, also known as Bright Monday, Renewal Monday, Wet Monday, is the Monday immediately after Easter Sunday. It is observed by many Christian groups, but primarily by the Eastern Orthodox traditions. For some, Easter Sunday is about the Easter Bunny, colorfully decorated Easter eggs, and Easter egg hunts

Here are the Easter years:
2016 – March 28 - Sunday
2017 – April 17 - Sunday
2018 – April 2 - Sunday
2019 – April 22 - Sunday
2020 – April 13 - Sunday
